I really like this ruler because it doesn't break easily. You cannot get splinters as from a wooden ruler or small cuts from the edge of the chipped edges of the plastic ones. The flexibility makes it easy to get in and out of my child's zipper pouch, as well.

I use this in a lab and it gets washed with bleach every night. It holds up great! The numbers are still very clear after a year of daily use and cleaning. Great ruler.
